I Used Smooth Transitions Twice and Both Experiences Were Everything That Was Promised
I used Smooth Transitions twice, and both experiences were everything that was promised. The first move involved downsizing and getting Mom from her home of 55 years to an Assisted Living apartment. I was juggling her care, my job and this move. Thanks to the expertise, professionalism and knowledge of the Smooth Transitions team, this move was the most organized and well executed part of this necessary, but emotionally-taxing transition. Charlie guided me every step of the way, one step at a time. My Mom's things were handled with care, and perfectly set up in the new apartment. About 1 1/2 years later, I needed to move Mom within the community to a smaller apartment, and that move was equally well done. A few things needed to be downsized, and the "discarded" furniture was taken to a donation site.
I highly recommend this company, if you could not already tell by my remarks! They can help with only moving, or any part of the process that your family may need, i.e., organizing, packing, moving, unpacking, hanging pictures and more. Not only was their guidance needed and appreciated, they also treated my Mom with kindness and respect. Thank you, Charlie, for making Mom's transition SMOOTH!

My wife and I (senior citizens) downsized from a large house to a modest sized condo. We don't know how we could have managed the move without Charlie and his team. They arranged the mover, packed (and unpacked) everything, arranged the estate sale, took the remaining items to charity (well documented for taxes) and then removed the remaining objects. Charlie will do all or any part of the move with which you need help. Everyone worked like dogs and were well trained. The packers were incredible--not one thing got lost or broken. I think the "unpacking" was extraordinary. Instead of living in a sea of boxes and packing materials, everything was placed in closets, drawers and cabinets and boxes and packing gone in one day. This is an incredible service, especially for older folks like us. I hope we don't have to move again but if we do, my first call will be to Smooth Transitions.

A situation that could have been difficult was made much more tolerable by the professionalism and kindness of the Smooth Transitions team.
We were in need of several apartment total relocations in a very limited time. Charlie and his team first put each of the apprehensive residents at ease as they listened to concerns. Smooth Transitions then took pictures of the "current" apartments, gently wrapped, packed, and moved the whole "kit & kaboodle" to the next place. Our residents stepped in to the new apartment with the feeling they were walking right back into their "home". Charlie helped us move our parents out of their home in Collinsville IL. They are elderly, not in good health and we had to move them out east. After visiting the house, Charlie explained to us the challenges we faced (we had sort of a hoarder situation going on). Charlie worked closely coordinating the people we needed to help empty the place out; movers, recycled stuff, donated stuff, coordinated with realtors, and even worked with neighbors, and the county to manage the whole situation. We were out east, so he handled so much for us "on site." We relied on Charlie as our eyes in IL. This was a difficult situation for us -- moving elderly parents from a home they've lived in for decades. We couldn't have done it without him. Smooth Transitions was recommended to us when we were faced with the daunting task of moving our aunt from her home and into an independent living community. He and his team took over the entire moving process which alleviated so much of our stress so that we could be there to support our aunt. On moving day, we took Aunt Carol out for the day, and by dinnertime, she walked into her new apartment, fully decorated with her own furniture. All household items, linens, clothing, bath and kitchen supplies, were put in their proper places!

Charlie and his team methodically, practically, and sensitively take you through the entire process -- from helping plan what's moving, what's being given to family members, and what needs to be donated, and the move itself. Then his team unpacks it all. It is done in a day.
I worked with him to help my mom move from her home of 50 years into an independent living community. He and his team worked with my mom respectfully and efficiently to help her determine what to take and leave. He moved it, and then when she walked in to her new apartment, it was like she was walking into her home all over again. Things were arranged, pictures hung, and her food was even in the pantry. Not a box in site.
He then works with the senior and family to remove items left behind in the family home, transport items to the family members, and clean the property. He was so good, we hired Smooth Transitions again when mom transitioned to a higher level of care.
